Council for Internationalization of Digital Education(CIDE, CAET)

The Council for Internationalization of Digital Education is a professional committee (branch) under the China Association for Educational Technology (CAET www.caet.org.cn). The China Association for Educational Technology (CAET) was established in 1991 and is a national first-level social organization registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. In November 2002, it was renamed from the China Electro-education Association with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Civil Affairs, becoming the only national industry association in the field of educational informatization. The association's mission is to promote the deep integration of technology and education and to foster innovative development in the educational informatization industry. Its members cover institutions at all levels and types across four major fields: higher education, basic education, vocational and adult education, as well as relevant management bodies, social organizations, and enterprises.

In May 2025, the China Association for Educational Technology signed a strategic collaboration memorandum with the UK-based China Association for Management of Technology (CAMOT), jointly promoting educational innovation and the internationalization of educational technology, creating a Chinese solution for digital education, and empowering the construction of a strong educational nation. CAMOT (UK) and the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) are strategic partners. Since 2010, they have been committed to promoting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and other missions by bringing together higher education institutions worldwide and have successfully held international conferences and forums with many renowned universities around the globe, including the 2014 CAMOT International Academic Conference at Tsinghua University, the 2016 CAMOT International Academic Conference at the University of Cambridge, and the 2021 World University Presidents' Forum in London.

For the implementation of the strategic objectives of the national plan for building a strong educational nation, to advance the national strategy for educational digitalization, to assist in the digital transformation of the international education field, to promote educational innovation, and to foster academic research, practical exchanges, and technological innovation in international digital education, and to build an international exchange platform for digital education, CAET has proposed integrating artificial intelligence into educational openness. The Council for Internationalization of Digital Education (Council for Internationalization of Digital Education, CIDE) (in preparation) [hereinafter referred to as CIDE was approved for establishment on July 30, 2025, by the fifteenth meeting of the seventh council of the China Association for Educational Technology. This initiative includes the deep integration of artificial intelligence with education (AI for Education), science (AI for Science), and society (AI for Society).

Vision and Mission of CIDE

Vision

Vision of CIDE will embrace the vision of "innovation-driven, co-created and globally-shared." It will be a global platform for collaborative innovation, built on the principle of mutual beneficial global partnership and shared progress and practice. We aim to unite global educational institutions, enterprises, experts, and international industry associations to co-create a global hub for AI-empowered education. Through this collaboration, we will promote cross-boarder cooperation, the application of cutting-edge digital education technologies, and the exploration of innovative learning models.

CIDE will serve as a global platform for the co-development and dissemination of innovative digital education solutions from China, contributing to the global digital education sector and helping to build a global community of shared knowledge and advancement for future mankind.

Mission Satement

· To build a shared global platform for digital education cooperation, facilitating the alignment of global resources and joint project development;

· To establish a highland for cross-border academic research, innovation and exchange, promoting global collaboration and publishing cutting-edge research & innovation outcome;

· To develop an international standard system for digital education with global partners and share with global partners;

· To deepen international training and integration of industry and education, cultivating high-end talents and incubating innovative scenarios;

· To optimize member services and resource-sharing platforms, creating synergy through collaboration in digital education globally. 

The strategic objectives and scope of business of CIDE are as follows:

1. Research, Innovation and Scholarly Activities

Hold the annual International Digital Education Forum and Conference (CIDE), creating an integrated platform for international seminars + AI-empowered education internationalization index release + policy recommendations + scientific research and innovation + international partner signings. Publish the Digital Empowerment of Education Internationalization Index Report in both Chinese and English.

2. Dissemination and Promotion

Promote the exchange and dissemination of achievements in the fields of educational innovation, education internationalization, and digitalization. Organize international digital education or digital-related thematic seminars, exchange meetings, workshops and forums for member institutions in their respective business areas to share new knowledge, theories, technologies, and methods. Promote and showcase the application of new technologies, theories, methods, and service solutions in the field of internationalization of digital education.

3. Quality Benchmarks and Validation

The CIDE-CAET will mobilize its members to contribute to the development of national, industry-specific, and collective benchmarks (criteria for excellence) in several key areas including Educational advancement and novelty, Incorporation of artificial intelligence into learning, Scholarly investigation and breakthroughs, Global expansion of digital learning, Worldwide deployment of digital-human resources for career development programs.

4. Professional Development and Credentialing

Organize upskilling programs and skill recognition courses for school educators and the general public including areas such as artificial intelligence and education, global outreach of digital education, worldwide deployment of digital-human resources for career development programs. This effort aims to foster the integrated advancement of educational technology and pedagogical innovation. Additionally, the organization will provide international study excursions and micro-course credit validation.

5. Recognition of Excellence and Exemplary Practices

Conduct an annual process for selecting typical cases and related technical or vocational skills demonstration events. The yearly showcase will highlight worldwide achievements in AI-driven education and professional/vocational skill development. We will choose these annual cases of excellence based on key criteria, including educational innovation, technological progress, equity in education, global relevance and applicability, sustainable progress.

6. Technical Consultation and Industry Services

Provide consulting services on educational and technological innovation in the fields of AI-empowered education and the internationalization of digital education. This includes strategic advice for enhancing international collaboration, developing cross-border digital campuses and course certification solutions, and implementing advanced AI+X teaching models."
